Head of Security Operations

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential AI infrastructure organization in their search for a Head of Security Operations based in London. This is a founding-level role where you'll build the security function from scratch for a rapidly scaling platform that powers GPU-native workloads and high-performance AI systems.

You'll define strategy, establish tooling, and own the operating model for security across data centers, compute platforms, and network infrastructure. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with customer-facing responsibilities—you'll represent the security posture directly to enterprise and sovereign deployment customers during evaluations and onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Build and own the security strategy, including policy, standards, and risk posture for customer-facing infrastructure
• Develop security practices, governance frameworks, and risk reporting mechanisms from the ground up
• Lead physical, environmental, and infrastructure-layer security across multiple data center sites
• Source, deploy, and operate security tooling for data center operations, including access control, surveillance, and environmental controls
• Contribute to and maintain the Trust Center as the primary resource for customers evaluating security posture
• Lead security input into customer due diligence, RFPs, and technical evaluations, particularly for sovereign and regulated deployments
• Represent security directly with customers and prospects as part of sales and onboarding processes
• Partner with engineering leadership to embed security into infrastructure design and delivery without impeding velocity
• Collaborate with InfoSec teams on shared risk reporting, security testing, and audit evidence gathering
• Own incident response and crisis management for customer-facing infrastructure events
• Build the hiring plan and business case for scaling the SecOps team

What We're Looking For

Must-have experience:

• Hands-on data center security expertise covering physical, environmental, and infrastructure-layer security in large-scale, high-availability environments
• Track record building a security function or SOC from the ground up without inherited teams or toolsets
• Experience representing security directly to customers and prospects, including at executive level
• Strong stakeholder management skills across engineering leadership, with the ability to influence without formal authority
• Experience working alongside peer GRC or InfoSec functions with clearly defined but collaborative boundaries
• Proven ownership of incident response and resilience programs at scale

Nice to have:

• Experience securing AI-native, GPU-accelerated, or HPC infrastructure
• Background in telecom, hyperscale cloud, or colocation data center operations
• Familiarity with sovereign or regulated infrastructure security requirements
• Experience with customer-facing security assurance processes such as RFPs, due diligence, and trust centers
