Product Lead – Infrastructure

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential open-source database platform company that serves millions of developers and thousands of enterprises globally. We're searching for a Product Lead - Infrastructure to own the core platform primitives that underpin a fast-growing developer tooling ecosystem.

This is a fully remote, senior IC role reporting to the Head of Product. You'll be the sole product leader for the infrastructure domain today, with the team scaling under you as the product area expands. You'll set strategic direction alongside leads from other product lines and own everything from compute and networking to enterprise features that close major deals.

Responsibilities

• Own product strategy for platform primitives including compute, storage, networking, API gateway, capacity planning, and regional expansion
• Define enterprise capabilities such as read replicas, custom domains, private connectivity, and bring-your-own-cloud offerings
• Engage directly with the full customer spectrum: individual developers, scaling startups, regulated enterprises, and platform partners
• Write clear problem statements and requirements before engineering begins, defining cost, capacity, and reliability constraints
• Make quarterly prioritization decisions balancing enterprise unlocks, cost/performance optimizations for the long tail, and net-new platform capabilities
• Treat reliability as a product surface—set service levels that reflect customer experience and hold teams accountable
• Define success metrics for every launch before it ships; conduct post-launch analysis on deal velocity, project economics, or platform reliability
• Maintain cross-functional alignment with engineering, design, and leadership; surface dependencies before they become blockers
• Work asynchronously by default in a fully distributed environment, making decisions in writing and moving work forward without excessive meetings

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of product management experience in developer tools, or founder experience building in this space
• Proven track record shipping cloud infrastructure as a product—you've owned compute, networking, storage, or multi-region/multi-tenant systems at a cloud, infrastructure, or PaaS company as the primary owner
• Deep understanding of infrastructure tradeoffs: instance sizing and capacity, storage economics, scale-to-zero vs. always-on, single-tenant vs. shared architectures, and regional expansion complexity
• Technical fluency to read architecture docs and participate meaningfully in design discussions
• Experience growing with an infrastructure product from small-scale to where capacity, regions, and cost become primary constraints
• Familiarity with enterprise procurement patterns (private connectivity, BYOC, compliance requirements) is a strong plus
• Bias toward speed—comfortable shipping imperfect solutions to learn faster
• Hands-on approach: you actually use what you build, standing up infrastructure yourself to develop informed opinions
• Proficiency leveraging AI tools to accelerate research, drafting, and feedback synthesis so you can focus on high-judgment decisions
• Strong async communication skills and comfort working in a remote-first, documentation-driven culture
