Software Engineer – Auth

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential client in the developer infrastructure space. They are seeking a Software Engineer to join their authentication platform team, working on a globally distributed system that serves hundreds of thousands of developers.

This is a fully remote position open to candidates anywhere in the world. You'll be working on core authentication features and protocols using Go and TypeScript, helping to scale a system that handles authentication for a rapidly growing developer platform.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement secure, scalable authentication features in Go and TypeScript
• Work across the stack from server-side protocols to client-side libraries for modern frameworks
• Own performance, reliability, and scalability of authentication services across distributed infrastructure
• Contribute to authentication architecture evolution, including OAuth, OIDC, SAML, and emerging protocols
• Plan and execute safe database migrations across large-scale Postgres deployments
• Build and improve observability through metrics, tracing, alerting, and monitoring dashboards
• Write and review technical design documents as part of the product development process
• Collaborate with engineers across teams to ensure seamless developer experience
• Support the developer community through technical channels and feedback loops

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 4+ years of professional experience writing and shipping Go in production environments
• 2+ years of hands-on experience working on authentication systems, including protocol implementation and maintenance at scale
• Strong relational database experience with Postgres or MySQL (Postgres experience strongly preferred)

Highly valued skills and experience:

• Strong knowledge of TypeScript in addition to Go
• Deep understanding of web technology fundamentals: cookies, sessions, JWT, HTTP, browser APIs
• Knowledge of and interest in authentication security, including password handling, OAuth/OIDC/SAML protocols, and cryptography fundamentals
• Experience with multiple web frameworks such as Next.js and traditional frameworks like Ruby on Rails, Django, or Laravel
• Strong technical writing skills for documentation and design proposals
• Experience building and operating services at significant scale
• Deep understanding of systems-level concerns in Go: memory management, concurrency patterns, resource optimization
• Production experience with Kubernetes and AWS or comparable cloud platforms
• Solid grasp of observability practices using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry
• Experience managing database schema migrations safely at scale
