Software Engineer: IaC Platform Experience

About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing database and backend platform company seeking a Software Engineer with IaC Platform Experience to own and evolve their Terraform provider. This is a fully remote, hands-on engineering role where you'll build the infrastructure-as-code tooling that thousands of developers rely on daily.

You'll work directly on the Go codebase behind the Terraform provider, driving technical strategy, improving reliability, and ensuring a seamless experience for users managing cloud resources declaratively. This role is ideal for engineers who thrive in async environments and enjoy building practical platform primitives at scale.

Responsibilities

• Own the Go Terraform provider codebase, including architecture, implementation quality, test strategy, and release readiness
• Improve provider reliability and ergonomics: resource behavior, data sources, lifecycle edge cases, and upgrade safety
• Drive technical strategy for IaC workflows through design docs, RFCs, and iterative delivery
• Build practical migration and interoperability paths for existing Terraform users
• Partner with product and engineering leadership to define roadmap priorities, scope, and outcomes
• Monitor customer feedback, open-source issues, and usage signals to continuously improve the Terraform experience
• Create clear documentation and examples that make IaC workflows easier to understand and adopt

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of software engineering experience in developer platforms, infrastructure tooling, or distributed systems
• Strong proficiency in Go with a track record of shipping production-grade developer tooling
• Deep experience with Terraform provider behavior, declarative resource models, and lifecycle edge cases
• Strong understanding of schema design, versioning, and backwards compatibility
• Experience owning or contributing to a provider codebase with real user adoption and upgrade constraints
• Experience with testing strategy for providers and IaC tooling (unit, integration, end-to-end) plus CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with release/versioning strategies and backwards compatibility in widely used developer tooling
• Strong written communication and a track record of clear technical design docs and RFCs
• Nice to have: familiarity with TypeScript-based tooling, CLI workflows, and GitHub-centric automation

Decision-Making and Collaboration: This role operates in a shared consensus model for major technical decisions. You'll lead proposals, align stakeholders, and move decisions to clear outcomes.
