Logistics Coordinator – CPG & Manufacturing

About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing consumer packaged goods and manufacturing organization based in South Africa. Our client needs an experienced Logistics Coordinator who can take full ownership of day-to-day supply chain operations in a dynamic, high-volume environment.

This role sits at the center of the entire supply chain—coordinating suppliers, production partners, freight providers, customs brokers, and fulfillment partners across multiple countries and time zones. You'll be the person who ensures orders move forward, paperwork gets completed, and everyone knows what happens next.

This is not a checklist-following role. Priorities shift, suppliers change, and unexpected problems arise daily. Our client needs someone who can assess situations independently, communicate clearly, find solutions, and keep operations moving without constant supervision.

Responsibilities

Supply Chain & Logistics

• Coordinate the complete supply chain from raw material sourcing through production and fulfillment
• Place and track purchase orders with multiple vendors
• Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, co-packers, freight providers, customs brokers, and third-party logistics partners
• Schedule pickups and deliveries, tracking shipments and proactively identifying delays or potential issues
• Manage international and domestic freight across multiple time zones including Asia, Hawaii, and the United States
• Ensure smooth handoffs between all supply chain partners

Customs & Freight Management

• Coordinate customs documentation and requirements for international shipments
• Work with customs brokers to ensure efficient clearance
• Manage ocean and air freight shipments
• Track bills of lading, shipping documentation, delivery schedules, and related paperwork
• Coordinate with carriers including major international shipping services
• Assist with freight insurance and shipment-related documentation

Purchasing & Administration

• Create and manage purchase orders across the supply chain
• Track invoices and payments, ensuring suppliers and vendors are paid appropriately and on time
• Maintain accurate records across all operations
• Assist with bookkeeping and intercompany paperwork
• Keep documentation organized and easily accessible
• Proactively identify and chase down missing information or paperwork

Production & Fulfillment Coordination

• Monitor production timelines and ensure deadlines are being met
• Communicate regularly with co-packers and manufacturing partners
• Track raw materials and production requirements
• Coordinate finished goods movement to appropriate fulfillment or warehouse locations
• Flag potential supply or production issues before they impact customers

Required Experience

• Previous experience in logistics, supply chain, purchasing, operations, manufacturing, freight, or related field
• Experience coordinating multiple vendors or external partners
• Strong organizational and project-management skills
• Experience working with purchase orders, invoices, shipping documentation, or similar operational paperwork
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
• Strong proficiency with spreadsheets and business software

Preferred Experience

• Consumer packaged goods, food and beverage, manufacturing, co-packing, or wholesale experience
• International logistics and freight experience
• Experience with ocean freight and less-than-container-load shipments
• Experience working with customs brokers
• Experience coordinating with suppliers in Asia
• Familiarity with freight management platforms or systems
• Experience coordinating with third-party logistics providers
• Basic bookkeeping or accounting experience

Our client values straight shooters. They need someone who will communicate problems immediately—not sugarcoat issues because you're worried about how they sound. If a shipment is delayed, a supplier has made a mistake, or production is falling behind, you should be comfortable saying so and immediately start working on the solution.

You should be comfortable saying things like: "This shipment is going to be late," "The supplier hasn't completed this," "Here's the problem and here's what I recommend we do," or "I don't know yet, but I'll find out."

The business is scaling quickly, so you need to be comfortable figuring things out as you go rather than relying entirely on established processes.
