Financial Analyst, R&D

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization seeking a Financial Analyst, R&D to join their high-performing Finance team. This remote role offers the opportunity to serve as a dedicated finance partner to Product and Engineering leadership, driving data-driven decision-making that fuels platform innovation and growth.

In this position, you will evaluate unit-level economics, engineering headcount planning, and investment KPIs that shape the product roadmap. You'll leverage modern FP&A platforms and AI tools to accelerate analysis, reporting, and scenario modeling while building key relationships across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the dedicated finance partner to Product and Engineering leadership, analyzing R&D investments and their impact on platform development
• Prepare monthly and quarterly management reporting, tracking key trends and communicating business risks and insights to senior leadership
• Utilize modern FP&A planning platforms and AI tools to automate finance workflows and accelerate data analysis
• Perform ad-hoc business case evaluations and scenario analyses to guide strategic technology initiatives and investment decisions
• Partner with Accounting during month-end close processes to complete variance analysis and assist with R&D financial reporting
• Own budgeting and forecasting for R&D groups with a focus on increased forecast accuracy and continual process improvement
• Proactively identify areas of risk and opportunity within assigned groups and assess downstream impacts across the organization

What We're Looking For

• 2 to 3 years of experience in FP&A, Sales Operations, or quantitative financial analysis roles within a high-growth tech or B2B SaaS environment
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for financial modeling
• Hands-on experience with modern FP&A platforms (Pigment preferred) and comfort using AI tools to drive analytical productivity
• Exposure to or strong interest in R&D and technology finance, including engineering headcount planning, cloud infrastructure costs, or software capitalization
• Tech-savvy with strong analytical skills and the ability to learn new systems and workflows quickly
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills to interact effectively with engineering leaders and executive management
• Collaborative mentality with a team-first approach to problem-solving
