About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential technology company in München that's building sophisticated automation infrastructure to connect their customer-facing systems. We're seeking an Automation Engineer to design, build, and maintain workflow automations that integrate CRM, support tools, email, and calendar systems into seamless, intelligent processes.

This is a hybrid role (3 days office, 2 days remote) based in München, offering the chance to work with modern automation platforms, AI-powered workflows, and a team that values quality, security, and proactive communication.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate n8n automations that connect CRM, customer support platforms, email, and calendar systems into reliable workflows—including AI-assisted ticket classification, intelligent escalation routing, and automated notifications for critical events
• Develop automation logic and workflow rules within support tools, ensuring escalation models are technically sound and data synchronizes reliably across systems
• Integrate AI components into automations where they deliver genuine time savings and value, while maintaining privacy-by-design principles—determining which data may be transmitted to models and which must remain protected
• Deploy with security and quality consciousness: test new flows in inactive mode with realistic test cases, implement deduplication logic, fallbacks, and error handling before production release
• Collaborate closely with Operations and Customer Success teams, translating operational pain points into concrete, robust automations and communicating proactively about flow status and timelines
• Leverage AI tools like Claude or Cursor to accelerate development, explore new solutions, and implement capabilities that might not be feasible without these productivity multipliers

What We're Looking For

• Required: Proven experience with workflow automation platforms (n8n, Zapier, Make) or backend development background with strong focus on APIs and system integrations
• Confident working with REST APIs and webhooks; ability to read and debug JSON payloads quickly and diagnose integration flow issues efficiently
• Experience with CRM ecosystems is a strong plus; willingness to learn proprietary scripting languages quickly and independently is more important than existing knowledge
• Good instinct for robustly integrating AI components (classification, text generation) into production workflows while understanding automation limits and when human decision-making should remain in the loop
• Solid JavaScript/TypeScript or Python skills for developing custom code nodes when needed
• Structured, security-conscious approach: consideration of test cases before activation, fallback handling for errors, and clear documentation so others can understand and maintain your flows
• Proactive, clear communication—especially when timelines extend or plans change; Operations and Customer Success teams should see you as a reliable partner
• Comfortable using AI tools like Claude and Cursor as productivity boosters to work faster, try new solutions, and achieve better results
• Very good German and English skills (minimum C1 level)
