About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential hospitality and membership organization seeking an Event Director to lead their primary events strategy across the UK, Europe, and Asia. This is a 12-month maternity cover contract based in London.
Our client produces large-scale cultural events including festivals, summits, and food-focused experiences for their membership base. You'll oversee event strategy, production, and delivery across multiple regions while managing a small team of producers and coordinators alongside external partners.
Responsibilities
- Event Strategy & Delivery: Set event strategy and oversee production of multiple concurrent events across UK, EU, and Asia including festivals, launches, dinners, summits, and pop-ups at music festivals and art fairs. Ensure all events meet health and safety compliance and brand standards.
- Budget Management: Oversee budgets for all events, managing costs efficiently while maintaining exceptional member experiences.
- Project Team Leadership: Lead cross-functional teams including in-house event staff, freelance producers, talent teams, communications, partnerships, operations (food, beverage, service), finance, creative, AV/tech, legal, and membership teams. Manage external vendors, venues, licensing, and entertainment partners.
- Event Production: Hands-on event production as required. Recruit and onboard agencies to support event delivery.
- Diversity & Inclusion: Deliver year-on-year progress on D&I initiatives related to partnerships, event suppliers, and team management.
- Industry Awareness: Stay current on event curation trends, technologies for logistics/guest lists/ticketing, and internal standards for food, beverage, service, and style.
- Post-Event Evaluation: Manage effective evaluation including member feedback and performance analysis to drive continuous improvements.
- Partnerships: Work with partnerships teams to deliver sponsorship and ticketing revenues, partner with cultural organizations and brands on co-created events, and create event proposals for partner meetings.
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years' experience in large-scale event production, particularly festival production and producing on green sites
- Budget expertise: Solid understanding of budget creation, cost control, and expense reporting
- Excellent communication skills: Strong verbal and written abilities with experience producing event decks and reports
- Project management: Proven experience managing multiple projects and people simultaneously
- Exceptional organization: Meticulous attention to detail and deadline-driven approach
- Health & Safety knowledge: Good understanding of H&S requirements, permitting, and licensing laws for events
- Team leadership: Experience successfully managing cross-functional project teams
- Strong network: Excellent contacts across talent, venues, producers, agencies, and suppliers
- Hospitality/F&B experience (bonus): Experience working with chefs, caterers, drinks suppliers, and front-of-house staff
- Global experience (bonus): Experience producing events across UK, Europe, and Asia
