About This Opportunity
We are representing a rapidly scaling pharmaceutical organization in Cologne that is experiencing significant growth in a dynamic regulated market. Our client has reached major revenue milestones and serves over 1,000 pharmacy partners across Germany. They are now professionalizing their data infrastructure and need a skilled Data Analyst with controlling expertise to bridge the gap between business intelligence and financial reporting.
This is a hands-on role where you'll build the data foundation that supports executive decision-making during a critical phase of operational maturity, including an upcoming ERP migration to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
Responsibilities
- Strengthen the data foundation for internal reporting by determining which data sources are needed, how they integrate into data models, and what impact they have on key performance indicators—particularly during the ERP system transition
- Build, maintain, and continuously develop reports and dashboards from data source through data modeling to visualization
- Replace manual Excel processes with robust, standardized reporting workflows and automate recurring analyses and data flows, leveraging AI as a productivity tool
- Own the business logic behind metrics: translate business questions into KPIs, dashboards, and data models, and ensure accuracy of definitions, calculation logic, quality assurance, and consistent delivery across all departments
- Prepare decision-ready analyses and ad-hoc evaluations for executive leadership and functional teams, including interpretation, root cause analysis, and actionable recommendations
- Expand group-level reporting by connecting and harmonizing KPIs across sister companies
- Serve as a strategic partner to departments from procurement to sales on questions like: Which metrics do we need, where do they come from, and what do they tell us?
What We're Looking For
- Completed degree in Business Administration, Business Informatics, Data Analytics, or comparable qualification
- Professional experience in business intelligence, reporting, or as a Data Analyst or Controller—we value what you've built more than years of experience (whether two or ten)
- Strong understanding of business fundamentals and the ability to translate numbers into insights and decision-making frameworks
- Advanced proficiency with Excel and Power Query
- Experience with Power BI/DAX or SQL is highly desirable
- Strong analytical skills and enthusiasm for systematically preparing and structuring heterogeneous data
- Desirable: practical experience using AI in a business context—such as automating recurring workflows, validating data, or building simple agents—and ability to discuss what worked and what didn't
- High degree of initiative, hands-on mentality, and desire to actively build reporting structures in a growing organization
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with functional departments and management
- Fluent German and good English language skills required
