Head of Brand & Marketing (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a premium family-owned food importer based in Solingen, Germany. They are seeking a Head of Brand & Marketing to lead brand strategy and execution across their portfolio of award-winning specialty products sold through retail, e-commerce, and premium foodservice channels.

In this role, you will own brand positioning, visual identity, tone of voice, and storytelling across all customer touchpoints. You will set strategic direction and manage execution both internally and with external partners. Budget ownership and decision-making authority sit with you. You will report directly to the Managing Director and are expected to challenge decisions when you have evidence-based recommendations.

Your scope includes packaging and retail presence, e-commerce and marketplace optimization, social media, email marketing, print, trade shows, press relations, and corporate LinkedIn presence. Success is measured by revenue, repeat purchase rates, and brand recognition among editorial, podcast, and AI recommendation channels—not vanity metrics.

You will not execute every tactical task yourself. Marketplace management, video production, and content creation are handled by specialists. Your role is to define what excellence looks like, demand it, read the data, and step in with design and AI tools where hands-on work is faster than delegation. This is not a sales position, though marketing accountability to revenue is central. Customer visits and field sales are not part of the remit.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience leading, building, or repositioning a brand with demonstrable business results—whether in-house, at an agency, or with your own venture. Industry background is less important than outcome.
• Strong design sensibility. You recognize when typography, imagery, or packaging is off, and you can produce drafts yourself.
• Commercial mindset. You think in terms of budget, margin, and repeat purchase, and understand how family-owned businesses make decisions—or you learn quickly.
• Daily user of AI tools with the ability to train others.
• Commitment to mastery in your discipline. You stand behind your work and support recommendations with evidence. Execution-only candidates will not succeed here.
• Fluent German and professional English for international partner communication.
• Typically 8–15 years of experience at senior or head level, though we evaluate portfolio over title. If you have the work but not yet the title, apply.

Who will not fit: Candidates seeking to manage budgets and agencies without hands-on contribution. Those who create aesthetically pleasing work but cannot articulate commercial impact. Those strong on analytics but lacking brand intuition.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Solingen. On-site presence is expected as the default; occasional remote days are possible. The role includes access to in-house photo and video studio facilities, fitness center, on-site dining, and travel to production sites.

Pay
