Cybersecurity (Senior) Software Engineer (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential cybersecurity consulting organization based in München. Our client is seeking a Cybersecurity Software Engineer or Senior Cybersecurity Software Engineer to join their team and help design, develop, and secure modern applications and cloud infrastructures for their clients.

Responsibilities

• Develop secure software and infrastructure solutions with security-by-design principles integrated from the start
• Support client projects in designing, developing, and protecting modern applications and infrastructures including AI, web, APIs, and cloud environments
• Identify security risks in existing applications, cloud environments, and infrastructure configurations and recommend remediation measures
• Conduct security-focused code reviews and establish best practices for secure software development
• Collaborate with development teams, architects, infrastructure teams, and security stakeholders to design secure systems
• Implement security mechanisms including authentication, authorization, encryption, and secrets management
• Integrate security checks into CI/CD pipelines and support DevSecOps transformation
• Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions for secure, transparent, and repeatable provisioning
• Analyze emerging technologies and tools in application security and contribute ideas to client projects
• Take ownership of work packages and actively contribute to service development

What We're Looking For

• Degree in computer science, business information systems, IT security, or comparable qualification
• 1–2 years of professional experience for Engineer role; 2–5 years for Senior Engineer role
• Solid knowledge of software development in Java, Python, TypeScript, or Go with a security-first mindset
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructures, automation, and deployment processes
• Experience with clean code, design patterns, and software quality principles
• Proficiency with version control (Git) and code reviews
• Knowledge of secure coding practices and understanding of common vulnerabilities such as OWASP Top 10
• Experience with container technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
• Practical experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, OpenTofu, or Pulumi
• Experience with automated testing including unit, integration, and security tests
• Ideally, experience with DevSecOps approaches across AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Ideally, understanding of modern security architectures including zero trust, least privilege, and defense in depth
• Security certifications are a plus
• Analytical thinking with the ability to assess and prioritize security risks
• Strong teamwork skills with the ability to take responsibility and drive topics independently
• Very good German and English language skills (minimum C1 level in both)
• Consulting environment or client-facing experience preferred
