Practice Director – Market Vets

About This Opportunity

We are representing a well-established veterinary practice group in South Molton, Devon, seeking an experienced Practice Director to lead operations across two closely located clinics. This is an exceptional opportunity for a commercially-minded leader who thrives on building high-performing teams and driving sustainable business growth.

Our client serves a large community of pet owners and operates as part of a respected veterinary care network. You'll provide strategic and operational leadership for more than 40 colleagues across clinical and non-clinical functions, partnering closely with Clinical Directors to deliver outstanding care while achieving ambitious commercial objectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead operational, commercial and financial performance across both practice locations in partnership with Clinical Directors
• Take full ownership of P&L performance, annual business planning and budget management
• Identify and capitalize on commercial opportunities to drive sustainable growth in a competitive market
• Build, engage and develop a multidisciplinary team of over 40 colleagues spanning veterinary, nursing, client care and administrative functions
• Lead resource planning, performance management, coaching and colleague development initiatives
• Support excellent client engagement, retention and overall client experience
• Ensure high standards of clinical governance, regulatory compliance and patient care alongside clinical leadership
• Drive continuous improvement and implement wider business initiatives and best practices
• Champion a safe, compliant and collaborative working environment across both practices
• Shape longer-term strategy for both locations, turning ideas into action

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in an operational leadership role with accountability for commercial performance (no clinical veterinary background required)
• Strong financial and business management capability, including budgeting, business planning and P&L oversight
• Demonstrated ability to identify commercial opportunities and translate them into sustainable business growth
• Experience leading, engaging and developing large multidisciplinary teams
• Strong coaching and people management skills with ability to build positive, high-performing cultures
• Experience leading through change and driving continuous improvement
• Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
• Collaborative approach with ability to work effectively alongside clinical leadership
• Ambition to shape strategy, culture and performance with meaningful autonomy

Working Pattern: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with flexible hours between 8:30am and 6:00pm. Time will be split between two conveniently located practices.
