Senior AI Enabled Product Engineer — Frontend Focus (f/m/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential social technology company based in Berlin. They need a Senior Frontend Engineer who can own product features end-to-end—from the user interface through the API layer to production deployment. This is a full-stack role with frontend depth: you'll work primarily in React and TypeScript, with meaningful involvement in the backend stack.

You will be responsible for a product area from prototype to iteration, making data-informed decisions about what to improve next. You'll build mobile-first interfaces, extend the design system, shape APIs, and use AI tooling deliberately to accelerate delivery while maintaining accountability for everything that ships.

Responsibilities

• Own a product area end-to-end: build, ship, monitor, and iterate based on usage data and performance metrics
• Build accessible, fast React features that align with the design system
• Extend and maintain the component library, tokens, and patterns that other engineers depend on
• Shape client–server interactions: design APIs, manage data fetching, caching, loading states, and error handling
• Set and meet reliability and performance targets for your area; instrument features before shipping and respond to incidents
• Challenge product plans when proposed work won't move the intended metrics
• Use AI tools to accelerate development while reviewing and owning all generated code that reaches production
• Replace manual QA processes with automated tests, visual regression checks, and instrumentation
• Collaborate daily with product leads and analysts to validate experiments and refine outcomes

What We're Looking For

• Strong production experience with React: component design, state management, rendering optimization
• Solid understanding of client–server architecture, network behaviour, and performance trade-offs
• Deep craft in web fundamentals: modern CSS and layout, semantic HTML, accessibility standards, responsive and mobile-first development
• Strong command of TypeScript in production environments
• Experience building or contributing to a design system, with clear opinions on what makes one maintainable
• Comfort owning outcomes and working cross-functionally with non-technical stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to use AI deliberately as leverage: directing and reviewing generated code to production quality
• A maker's mindset: ships working software, validates with data, refines based on evidence
• Care for the end-user experience, especially on mobile devices and variable network conditions
• English fluency for working in an international team
• Bonus: backend familiarity with Ruby or another server-side language sufficient to modify endpoints independently
• Bonus: experience with data-informed product development and metric-driven decision making
• Bonus: German language skills
