Head of Automation Engineering

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI-powered platform serving modern revenue teams. Our client operates at the intersection of automation infrastructure and go-to-market technology, building systems that convert market signals into qualified pipeline for scaling organizations. This is a senior technical leadership role ideal for a hands-on engineering leader who thrives in early-stage environments.

Responsibilities

As the most senior technical leader, you will own the automation architecture and engineering function:

• Design and scale n8n automation ecosystems including workflow architecture, orchestration, monitoring, and performance optimization across multi-client operational complexity
• Architect integration layers connecting operational tools and outbound infrastructure platforms, with robust error handling, alerting, and self-healing mechanisms
• Build internal platforms and client-facing automation tools that convert operational processes into scalable software products
• Own full-stack development lifecycle from architecture through deployment, establishing engineering standards including code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and testing frameworks
• Design and implement production-grade AI pipelines leveraging large language models, combining AI decision-making with deterministic automation logic
• Develop infrastructure for prompt engineering, model evaluation, and system performance monitoring optimized for cost efficiency and reliability
• Build and manage an automation engineering team, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management
• Partner directly with executive leadership to translate business strategy into technical execution through sprint planning and backlog prioritization

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Deep production-level experience with n8n automation architecture and workflow design
• Strong full-stack development experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, including Node.js backend systems and modern frontend frameworks such as React
• Proven ability to lead engineering teams while remaining highly hands-on in production code
• Experience building AI-powered systems using LLM APIs (Claude, OpenAI, or similar) in real-world production environments
• Strong systems architecture skills designing scalable, fault-tolerant systems
• Experience translating business problems into technical solutions in fast-moving environments

Strongly preferred:

• Experience building automation systems within agencies, SaaS platforms, or services businesses handling multi-client infrastructure
• Experience launching products used by real customers beyond internal tools
• Familiarity with modern automation tools and platforms, email infrastructure systems, and CRM APIs
• Experience deploying and managing infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or similar cloud platforms
• Experience using AI tools as daily development accelerators

This is a full-time independent contractor position based in Poland, fully remote.
