Software Engineer – Data Infrastructure – OpenSearch/ElasticSearch

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential open-source technology organization seeking Software Engineers with expertise in data infrastructure, specifically around search and analytics platforms like OpenSearch and Elasticsearch. Our client is building enterprise-grade automation for multi-cloud and on-premise data solutions across their comprehensive data platform suite.

This is a fully remote position available to candidates located in EMEA time zones (Europe, Middle East, and Africa). We have openings at multiple experience levels, and our talent team will work with you to identify the best fit based on your background and interests.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement automation for OpenSearch and Elasticsearch operations, including fault-tolerant replication, TLS configuration, and installation workflows
• Write high-quality, idiomatic Python code to build new features for data platform automation
• Collaborate with distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones
• Debug complex issues in distributed systems and engage with open-source communities
• Provide domain expertise on search and analytics systems to cross-functional teams
• Focus on feature creation and platform automation rather than data analysis
• Participate in global team events requiring travel 2-4 weeks annually

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Proven hands-on experience in software development using Python
• Demonstrated experience building or working with distributed systems
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or equivalent field
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 4 times per year
• Strong understanding of open-source community dynamics and enterprise requirements

Valued additional experience (the combination will determine seniority level):

• Operating and managing Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, or OpenSearch in production
• Linux systems administration, package management, and operations
• Public cloud platforms or private cloud solutions
• Kubernetes cluster operations for stateful, persistent data services
