Python Engineering Manager, Commercial Systems

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential client in the enterprise software sector, seeking a Python Engineering Manager for their Commercial Systems division. This is a remote position based in the EMEA region, offering the opportunity to lead critical internal platform development that directly supports business operations and growth.

Our client operates globally with a distributed team model. You'll lead one of several engineering teams focused on either data governance infrastructure or SaaS integration automation. Both areas leverage Python extensively and work with modern open-source tooling.

Responsibilities

• Take accountability for the design, development, and delivery of internal product solutions
• Lead and manage a team of software engineers working primarily in Python
• Develop the technical skills and career growth of your direct reports
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, system designs, and technical solutions
• Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering and business units to understand requirements and maximize impact
• Ensure high engineering quality standards across your team's output
• Participate in twice-yearly in-person team gatherings (up to two weeks, international travel required)

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Exceptional academic background from high school through university level
• Undergraduate degree in a technical discipline, or a strong alternative background with clear rationale
• Demonstrated history of exceeding expectations and delivering outstanding results
• Professional software development experience in a high-level language such as Python, Golang, or Java
• Excellent written and spoken English with strong presentation capabilities
• Results-driven mindset with a track record of meeting commitments
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally twice per year for company events

Preferred experience:

• Performance engineering or site reliability engineering (SRE) background
• Hands-on experience with data governance frameworks, data engineering pipelines, or data science workflows
• Familiarity with open-source data tools such as Trino, Ranger, or ETL platforms
