Engineering Manager – Public Cloud, Python, Golang

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential client in the open-source infrastructure space. They are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team responsible for optimizing cloud infrastructure images and delivering exceptional public cloud experiences. This is a fully remote position open to candidates in EMEA, LATAM, Canada, and the USA.

In this role, you will manage a distributed engineering team that builds, tests, and publishes cloud infrastructure products used by millions globally. You'll work closely with major public cloud providers to ensure optimal performance and security across multiple platforms. Your team will focus on automating delivery pipelines and supporting modern workloads from traditional servers to AI and containerized environments.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a geographically distributed team of engineers across multiple timezones
• Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, regular feedback, and hands-on career development
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, architectural decisions, and direct contribution to team goals
• Lead modern, agile software development practices and maintain engineering excellence
• Build automated, highly reliable image delivery, testing, and publication pipelines
• Set and manage expectations with internal engineering teams, management, and external stakeholders
• Collaborate with other leaders to foster a healthy, collaborative engineering culture
• Engage with open-source communities and commercial cloud partners
• Travel up to 15% for internal team meetings and external events

What We're Looking For

• Proven track record of mentoring, developing, and growing engineering talent
• Strong software development experience in Python or Golang (you will be expected to review code and provide architectural leadership)
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or related field
• Practical hands-on experience with at least one major public cloud platform (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud)
• Deep knowledge and passion for software development practices
• Strong focus on delivery of timely, high-quality software
• Experience with and commitment to agile development methodologies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to balance technical leadership with people management responsibilities

Pay

Compensation details will be discussed during the screening process and are competitive based on geographic location, experience, and performance.
