About This Position
As a Youth Basketball Coach with Community Sports Partners, you'll be responsible for designing and delivering high-quality basketball instruction to young participants of varying skill levels. This is a hands-on coaching role where you'll work directly with athletes, focusing on fundamental skills, game strategy, physical conditioning, and personal development. Your enthusiasm for basketball combined with strong communication abilities will help create an inclusive, motivating environment where young people thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct engaging, age-appropriate basketball training sessions covering fundamentals, offensive and defensive strategies, and game tactics
- Assess individual player abilities and provide constructive feedback to support skill progression
- Organise and oversee matches, tournaments, and competitive events with professionalism and fair play standards
- Promote a positive team culture centred on respect, discipline, hard work, and enjoyment of the sport
- Maintain equipment, facilities, and records in good order; ensure compliance with health and safety requirements
- Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and programme administrators regarding athlete progress and programme updates
What You Bring
- Proven coaching experience working with youth basketball players, or equivalent demonstrated expertise in basketball
- Strong knowledge of basketball rules, techniques, and contemporary coaching methodologies
- Excellent interpersonal and motivational skills; ability to engage young people effectively
- Commitment to player safety, inclusivity, and positive youth development principles
- Reliable, organised, and able to manage multiple sessions and responsibilities
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain it) is an asset
