Technical Lead Manager

About This Opportunity

We are representing a well-funded residential construction technology company that is modernizing how homes are built and delivered across the United States. Our client has developed a comprehensive platform that powers every stage of the homebuilding process, from customer selection through construction completion.

They are seeking a Technical Lead Manager to lead a small engineering team building critical platform capabilities. This is a leadership-track role for a senior engineer ready to expand their scope and impact by combining hands-on technical leadership with direct people management of 2–4 engineers.

This is a remote-first position based in the USA, with regular in-person offsites for team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for your domain, contributing to architecture decisions, API contracts, and data models that enable the platform to scale
• Design, build, and deliver full-stack features from technical design through deployment and monitoring
• Write and deploy production-grade code on a regular basis, maintaining hands-on technical contribution
• Review designs, improve developer experience, and mentor engineers through complex technical challenges
• Directly manage a team of 2–4 engineers, conducting regular 1:1s and providing clear, actionable feedback
• Own your team's delivery, driving planning, prioritization, and execution while being accountable for outcomes
• Coach and develop engineers, helping them grow their skills, expand their scope, and advance their careers
• Partner with product and design stakeholders to translate complex business processes into reliable software solutions
• Participate in recruiting and interviewing to raise the bar on engineering hiring

What We're Looking For

Required Experience and Skills:

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with a track record of shipping products that deliver real-world impact
• Experience as a tech lead, team lead, or engineering manager—formal prior direct management experience is a strong plus
• Full-stack development experience with modern web technologies (the stack includes TypeScript, Node, React, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and AWS)
• Active use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.) in your daily workflow, with the ability to explain how they enhance your approach to problem-solving
• Demonstrated leadership through mentoring engineers, influencing technical direction, and being a dependable point of ownership
• Experience designing systems that balance rapid iteration with long-term reliability and maintainability
• Strong collaboration skills with product, design, and non-technical stakeholders to define requirements and make strategic tradeoffs
