Systems Engineer, Platform Requirements and Verification

We are representing a confidential autonomous vehicle technology organization in their search for a Systems Engineer focused on Platform Requirements and Verification. Our client is building next-generation self-driving systems for commercial deployment. This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of hardware, software, and safety validation on cutting-edge transportation technology.

Responsibilities

• Create, document, align and verify vehicle platform requirements; define efficient and effective evaluation methodologies
• Leverage deep understanding of sensors, compute platforms and actuators to architect requirements that enable safe autonomous vehicle systems
• Serve as central point of contact for vehicle platform requirements and related testing; communicate progress and roadblocks to stakeholders
• Drive safety culture through application of industry standards (ISO 26262, SOTIF, UL 4600) across systems engineering, hardware and software teams
• Define simulator improvements to verify vehicle platform aspects under all required conditions; collaborate with teams to implement enhancements
• Write and track test execution aligned with project milestones
• Continuously evaluate and enhance platform capabilities; identify lessons learned and maintain comprehensive, accessible documentation
• Implement tools and methodologies to streamline and automate requirement processes
• Collaborate with external partners on delivering verified and validated vehicle platforms that support the complete safety case

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline (Master's or PhD preferred)
• 3+ years in automotive, robotics, aerospace or related industry
• Experience with requirements specifications and metrics development
• Track record executing complex vehicle test campaigns
• Familiarity with ISO 26262, SOTIF (ISO 21448) and/or UL 4600 standards
• Strong fundamentals in mathematics, engineering and physics; basic vehicle dynamics knowledge
• Excellent data analysis skills using Python or Matlab
• Experience with vehicle actuation systems (brakes, steering, propulsion)
• Collaborative leadership style with eagerness to mentor and guide others
• Passion for autonomous driving technologies and solving complex technical challenges

Bonus qualifications:

• Experience launching driverless products
• Background leading small systems engineering teams
• Autonomous driving industry experience
• Experience building software systems from the ground up
• Robotics or machine learning background
• Proficiency in data mining and statistical analysis

Pay

The client's compensation range for this role is $140,000 - $190,000 USD annually, plus equity and performance bonus. This reflects the hiring organization's target range across all US locations and will be part of your total compensation package if you join their team.
