Junior Complaints & Compliance Specialist

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a Junior Complaints & Compliance Specialist in Berlin. In this role, you will investigate and resolve merchant complaints related to payment processing, including authorisations, settlements, payouts, and chargebacks. You'll dig into processor logs, payment gateways, and payout systems to identify root causes and document findings with precision.

Your day-to-day work will include drafting clear, compliant final responses to merchants that meet regulatory timelines and internal service level agreements. You'll collaborate closely with Payment Operations, Risk, Engineering, and Finance teams to unblock complex cases. Maintaining audit-ready case documentation is essential, as is flagging emerging patterns or recurring issues to the wider team. You'll also contribute to playbooks and knowledge base articles that help resolve future cases more efficiently.

What we're looking for

Our talent team is seeking candidates with a foundational understanding of payment processing, covering authorisations, settlements, payouts, and basic chargebacks. You should be comfortable working with CRM or ticketing systems, following standard operating procedures, and maintaining precise, audit-ready documentation.

Strong written communication skills are essential—you'll need to draft clear, customer-friendly responses under regulatory constraints. Fluency in both English and Italian is required, as this role involves communicating with merchants and stakeholders in both languages. The ability to stay structured and calm under pressure is critical, as you'll be prioritising cases against strict deadlines and escalating appropriately when needed.

This is an office-first position based in Berlin, ideal for someone ready to learn the mechanics of payment processing from the ground up while working on sensitive merchant and regulatory matters.
