Data Platform Engineer

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a Data Platform Engineer to join their Platform tribe in Berlin. In this role, you will help build a self-service, AI-ready data platform that supports the next generation of data, AI, and real-time analytics capabilities. Our talent team is looking for someone who can contribute to scalable, reliable infrastructure that enables a global data community.

Your day-to-day work will include:

• Building and maintaining best-in-class data infrastructure for critical processes
• Developing features that strengthen self-service capabilities, including ETL and orchestration
• Optimizing processes to use compute more efficiently and reduce operational costs
• Automating operations to ensure the platform remains highly available
• Contributing to the design and implementation of new services

What We're Looking For

You'll be a strong fit if you bring:

• Experience with infrastructure as code and containerization (e.g., Terraform, Helm, Docker, Kubernetes)
• Hands-on experience with modern query engines (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Trino)
• Experience working with modern data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Dagster)
• Proficiency in Python or Go
• A pragmatic, team-first mindset
• Self-motivation, the ability to work independently, and skill in balancing stakeholder needs

Nice to have:

• Experience building and operating performant API layers
• Experience with dbt for transform, test, and documentation workflows
• Query optimization at scale
• Real-time streaming experience (e.g., Kafka, Flink, StarRocks, Pinot, Druid, ClickHouse)
• Experience with systems at petabyte scale
• Experience implementing AI-enabled systems (e.g., agentic SRE, AI automation)
