Junior Complaints & Compliance Specialist

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a Junior Complaints & Compliance Specialist to join their Operations team in Berlin. In this office-based, full-time role, you will investigate and resolve merchant complaints related to payment processing, including authorizations, settlements, payouts, and chargebacks.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Investigating payment processing issues by analyzing processor logs, payment gateways, and payout systems to identify root causes
• Drafting clear, compliant final responses to merchants that meet regulatory timelines and internal service level agreements
• Collaborating closely with Payment Operations, Risk, Engineering, and Finance teams to resolve complex escalated cases
• Maintaining audit-ready case documentation and identifying emerging patterns or recurring issues for process improvement
• Contributing to internal knowledge base articles and playbooks to enhance team efficiency

What We're Looking For

Our client needs someone with a foundational understanding of payment processing who can handle sensitive merchant issues with precision and care. The ideal candidate will have:

• Working knowledge of payment processing fundamentals, covering authorizations, settlements, payouts, and basic chargebacks
• Experience using CRM or ticketing systems, following standard operating procedures, and maintaining precise documentation
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to draft customer-friendly responses within regulatory constraints
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize cases against strict deadlines while remaining calm under pressure
• Fluency in both English and German, as you will communicate with merchants and stakeholders in both languages
