Software Engineer, Data Platforms

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI technology client seeking a Software Engineer for their Data Platforms team. This is a remote, full-time position based in the United States.

This role combines fullstack engineering with modern AI-assisted development practices. You'll build production systems that support data delivery and platform infrastructure, working across backend services, data pipelines, and React-based interfaces. The position requires strong fundamentals in Python and TypeScript, comfort with AI coding tools as part of your daily workflow, and the ability to own features from concept through deployment.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver fullstack features spanning backend APIs, data pipelines, and React frontends
• Build and maintain client-facing data delivery infrastructure, including export systems, access controls, and reliability mechanisms
• Develop services using Python (FastAPI) and TypeScript in production environments
• Contribute to data modeling, schema design, and query optimization across relational and document databases
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate platform requirements into production-ready systems
• Scope work around business outcomes, leverage AI coding assistants effectively, and review architectural decisions
• Enhance frameworks and evaluation methods that improve development velocity while maintaining code quality
• Troubleshoot production issues and build observable, resilient systems

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 0–5 years of software engineering experience, or demonstrated ability through shipped projects as a recent graduate
• Strong fundamentals in Python and TypeScript with experience building CRUD applications using frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, and React
• Working knowledge of databases including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or SQLite, and core data modeling principles
• Experience deploying services on major cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
• Proficiency using AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar tools) as your primary development workflow
• Ability to translate business outcomes into technical plans, direct AI tools effectively, verify results, and identify architectural issues
• Understanding of agent-based development concepts including tool integrations, permissions, and security considerations
• Familiarity with context management, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and evaluation techniques for testing AI-assisted workflows

Preferred Qualifications:

• Exposure to reinforcement learning concepts or task-based environments
• Experience building data pipelines or workflow platforms
• Familiarity with CI/CD, deployment pipelines, and DevOps fundamentals
• Experience contributing to team projects, open-source software, or startup environments
