About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential open-source technology organization seeking a Site Reliability Engineering Manager for their APAC or EMEA region. This is a fully remote position reporting to a global director, with opportunities to lead a high-performance devops team managing services used by tens of millions of users worldwide.

This role combines operations management, software engineering, product development, and team leadership. You'll pioneer infrastructure-as-code practices, drive gitops workflows, and help shape next-generation model-driven operations. Your team will work with cutting-edge technologies from Kubernetes to kernel-level systems in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a distributed team in daily agile devops practices across your time zone
  • Represent the infrastructure team to stakeholders, customers, and internal partners
  • Organize, coordinate, and drive internal projects from conception to delivery
  • Mentor and develop engineers to advance their technical and professional skills
  • Identify and track team health indicators and implement structured engineering processes
  • Ensure team focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables aligned with organizational goals
  • Meet service level agreements for customer deployments across multiple global regions
  • Deliver quality managed services consistently and on schedule
  • Contribute to open-source automation packages that define industry best practices

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

  • Proven track record of exceeding expectations and driving results in technical leadership roles
  • Demonstrated experience delivering software using infrastructure-as-code methodologies
  • Management experience leading devops teams for SaaS or similar service offerings
  • Strong understanding of testing methodologies and maintainable code quality standards
  • Technical aptitude for complex distributed systems architecture and troubleshooting
  • Hands-on experience with cloud topologies and modern cloud-native technologies
  • Linux and operations expertise at an advanced level
  • Ability to travel internationally twice per year for team events (up to two weeks duration)
  • Exceptional academic background from both secondary and university education

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Ubuntu or similar Linux distribution system administration
  • Background working with agile software development methodologies
  • Prior experience working in and managing geographically distributed teams
