About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential technology organization seeking a Senior Staff Data Engineer to join their data platform infrastructure team in the United States. This is a unique hybrid role spanning both Data Platform Engineering and Data Engineering, working in a technical leadership capacity to shape the future of large-scale data systems.
Our client operates a data platform processing tens of terabytes per day, serving multiple product lines from collection through insights, analytics, and machine learning applications. The goal is to build a robust, efficient platform that increasingly empowers business and product decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and improve systems to reliably and efficiently process data at massive scale
- Evaluate and implement new technologies, setting best-practice standards across data engineering and platform teams
- Craft and improve workflows in GCP using modern components such as Dataflow, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, GKE, and Airflow
- Drive cross-functional projects with stakeholders across data science, product, legal, policy, and engineering
- Mentor teammates and develop engineering best practices across the data organization
- Collaborate with data science to design and implement useful data abstractions
- Address the evolving needs of active data products
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of combined experience in Data Engineering, Data Platform Engineering, Data Science, or Data Analyst roles
- Deep expertise in both Data Engineering and Data Platform Engineering disciplines
- Hands-on experience with data tooling in GCP, AWS, or Azure, including technologies like Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Dataflow (Apache Beam), or equivalents
- Experience with Looker, Fivetran, Kubernetes/GKE, Airflow/Cloud Composer, Terraform, or similar technologies
- Advanced coding skills in SQL and Python
- Strong software engineering fundamentals: modularity, abstraction, data structures, and algorithms
- Experience as a tech lead, team lead, hands-on manager, or similar leadership role
- Commitment to welcoming differences, relationship-minded collaboration, responsible participation, and persistence

Pay
Pay via Get A Job.ai: This position offers compensation ranging from $152,000 to $238,000 USD annually, depending on location tier and experience. Our client also provides generous performance-based bonuses, rich medical/dental/vision coverage, retirement contributions with immediate vesting, quarterly wellness days, professional development budgets, and considerable paid parental leave.
