Senior Software Engineer – REDAPL Graph Engine

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential observability technology organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer to work on their graph-based referential data platform. This is a remote opportunity where you'll build and scale query engines that process millions of updates per second, supporting infrastructure tracking and relationship analysis across cloud security, cost management, and resource catalog products.

As a senior member of the platform team, you'll drive technical decisions around data ingestion, processing pipelines, and distributed query execution. This role offers significant influence over architecture and product direction in a high-scale environment.

Responsibilities

• Build a query engine that supports efficient relationship traversals for demanding workloads at massive scale
• Contribute to design and drive high-priority, high-visibility projects to increase platform value, resilience, and scalability across multiple teams
• Lead and guide other engineers through architectural platform decisions
• Identify potential system risks and trends in reliability; design solutions to address them
• Provide input on prioritizing engineering-led initiatives in short- and long-term planning and roadmaps
• Collaborate with internal product teams to understand their requirements and plan for product growth as they integrate with the platform

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related scientific field, or equivalent experience
• Extensive work with multiple types of data stores
• Several years of contributions to initiatives in a platform or infrastructure-focused environment
• Led impactful technical initiatives where performance, cost efficiency, ease of use, and resilience/operability are first-order concerns
• Significant back-end engineering experience building and operating distributed systems at high scale

Bonus qualifications:

• Experience working with graph databases such as Neo4j, Memgraph, JanusGraph, ArangoDB, Amazon Neptune, or PuppyGraph
• Production-grade experience with Apache Iceberg
• Solid grasp of query planning or contributions to production-grade query engines or related projects (e.g., Trino, Calcite, Substrait, DataFusion), ideally demonstrated through open-source contributions or PMC membership
