Senior Software Engineer – Java/Microservices

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential cybersecurity organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer with deep expertise in Java and microservices architecture. This role is central to building and maintaining the scalable cloud infrastructure that powers enterprise-grade security solutions used by organizations worldwide.

As a senior member of the engineering team, you'll architect and implement the core services that enable data ingestion, storage, querying, and retrieval at massive scale. This isn't just about processing data—you'll be building the reliable, efficient backbone that powers the entire platform ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain cloud-based search solutions and underlying microservices using modern technologies
• Build and manage highly scalable services for data ingestion, storage, and retrieval within a distributed architecture
• Architect and implement features that drive the overall platform architecture as a senior technical leader
• Ensure database performance through optimization, schema design, and query tuning across distributed microservices
• Develop core libraries, infrastructure components, and search engine capabilities
• Take ownership and accountability for software behavior in production environments
• Coach and mentor mid-level and junior engineers on highly technical development projects
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, designers, and cross-functional stakeholders to iterate on products and drive consensus
• Contribute to ongoing innovation in cloud architecture and distributed systems

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years of software development experience in enterprise environments with leadership capabilities
• Strong experience developing within distributed, microservice architectures
• Proficiency in Java or Kotlin, with willingness to learn new languages as needed
• Hands-on experience with containerized microservices in Kubernetes
• Deep knowledge of database performance tuning, schema design, and query optimization in distributed systems
• Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, or similar)
• Familiarity with event-driven systems (Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies)
• B.S. degree in Computer Science or directly related field, or equivalent work experience
• Experience working in Agile teams with enthusiasm for collaborative development
• Ability to work independently and lead/drive projects as necessary
• Continuous learning mindset and enthusiasm for new technologies
• Cross-platform development experience is a plus
