About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential technology organization in München that is scaling its automation infrastructure. Our client needs an Automation Engineer to design, build, and maintain workflow automations across CRM, customer support tools, email, and calendar systems using n8n and related platforms.
This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week on-site in München, with 2 days remote. You'll work closely with Operations and Customer Success teams to transform operational pain points into reliable, production-grade automation workflows.
Responsibilities
- Build and operate n8n automations connecting CRM, support tools, email, and calendar into seamless workflows—including AI-assisted ticket classification, intelligent escalation routing, and automated critical event notifications
- Develop automation logic and workflow rules within the support tooling, ensuring escalation models are technically implemented and information syncs reliably between systems
- Integrate AI components into automations where they deliver genuine time savings and value, while designing for data privacy and minimization from the outset—determining which data can and cannot be sent to models
- Build with security and quality consciousness: test new flows in inactive mode with realistic test cases, implement deduplication logic, fallbacks, and error handling before production deployment
- Collaborate closely with Operations and Customer Success, translating operational challenges into concrete, robust automations while communicating proactively about workflow status and timelines
- Leverage AI tools like Claude or Cursor to accelerate development, prototype new solutions, and build capabilities that would otherwise be impractical
What We're Looking For
- Required: Proven experience with workflow automation platforms (n8n, Zapier, Make) or backend development with strong focus on APIs and system integrations
- Proficiency with REST APIs and webhooks; ability to read and debug JSON payloads efficiently and troubleshoot integration flows
- Experience with Zoho ecosystem (CRM, Desk) is a significant plus; Deluge scripting not required, but willingness to learn independently is essential
- Strong sense for integrating AI components (classification, text generation) into production workflows robustly, while understanding automation limitations and when human decision-making is necessary
- Solid knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript or Python for developing custom code nodes when needed
- Structured and security-conscious approach: thinking through test cases before activation, implementing fallbacks for error scenarios, and ensuring workflows are maintainable by others
- Proactive and clear communication, especially when timelines shift; Operations and Customer Success must be able to rely on you as a dependable partner
- Comfortable using AI tools like Claude and Cursor as productivity enhancers
- Fluent German and English (minimum C1 level)
