Role Overview

As a Senior Mechanical HVAC Engineer at Ramboll's Albany, New York office, you'll take on a leadership role within our mechanical systems team. You'll be responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing HVAC systems that meet regulatory standards and client requirements across multiple project types and scales. Your technical expertise and mentorship will drive quality outcomes and shape the next generation of engineering talent.

Your Responsibilities

• Develop and review detailed mechanical HVAC designs and calculations for commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities
• Lead project teams through design phases, ensuring compliance with building codes and energy standards
• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and electrical specialists to integrate mechanical systems
• Perform load calculations, system selections, and equipment sizing for heating and cooling applications
• Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering professional development and quality standards
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and documentation for mechanical systems
• Support business development and client engagement efforts

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• Professional licensure (PE) or eligibility to obtain licensure in New York
• Significant experience in HVAC design and engineering
• Strong knowledge of ASHRAE standards and building energy codes
• Proficiency with mechanical design software and modern engineering tools
• Excellent communication and project management skills
