Senior Mechanical HVAC Engineer

Ramboll, a leading engineering and design firm, is looking for a Senior Mechanical HVAC Engineer to join our Binghamton, New York team on a full-time basis. This role offers you the opportunity to lead the design, development, and delivery of sophisticated mechanical and HVAC systems for a diverse range of projects in the Northeast.

What This Role Involves

As Senior Mechanical HVAC Engineer in Binghamton, you'll take ownership of mechanical systems projects from conception through commissioning. You'll balance technical excellence with project delivery, managing complex HVAC designs that meet energy codes, building performance standards, and client objectives. Your work will shape how buildings operate efficiently while maintaining indoor environmental quality for occupants.

Core Duties

• Design HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, distribution networks, and controls for commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities
• Develop and review mechanical specifications, calculations, and system documentation
• Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and other disciplines to integrate systems within building envelopes
• Oversee system performance optimization and energy efficiency analysis
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with construction teams during implementation

Skills & Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical Engineering, or ability to obtain licensure in New York
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, or closely related engineering discipline
• Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in HVAC system design and engineering
• Proficiency with CAD software and mechanical design tools
• Solid understanding of building codes, ASHRAE standards, and energy regulations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
