Role Overview
As an Analytical Development Scientist specializing in small molecules at our Cambridge, MA facility, you'll lead the development and validation of analytical methods that characterize and ensure the quality of small molecule compounds. Working within our Testing & Laboratory division, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex analytical challenges, from early research through commercial manufacturing support. Your work directly impacts the safety, efficacy, and regulatory compliance of therapeutic compounds.
Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods (HPLC, LC-MS, GC, spectroscopy, and related techniques) for small molecule characterization
- Design and execute analytical studies to support formulation development, stability testing, and manufacturing processes
- Generate clear, scientifically rigorous analytical data and comprehensive reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory submissions
- Troubleshoot analytical challenges and implement corrective actions to meet project timelines and quality standards
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure compliance with SOPs, GxP guidelines, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with chemistry, quality, and manufacturing teams to align analytical strategies with product development goals
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Hands-on experience developing and validating analytical methods for small molecules or pharmaceuticals
- Proficiency with analytical instrumentation (HPLC, LC-MS, UV-Vis spectroscopy, or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of analytical validation principles, method validation protocols, and regulatory frameworks (ICH, USP, FDA)
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and commitment to data integrity and laboratory compliance
