Technical Manager, Water Infrastructure

Ramboll is seeking a Technical Manager for Water Infrastructure to join our Engineering team in Syracuse, New York. This is a full-time position where you'll lead technical initiatives that serve communities across the region.

Position Summary

As Technical Manager for Water Infrastructure, you will oversee the technical direction and execution of water systems projects, ensuring excellence in design, implementation, and compliance. You'll work collaboratively with engineering teams, external partners, and municipal stakeholders to deliver solutions that strengthen water infrastructure across New York. This role requires both hands-on technical knowledge and the leadership capability to guide teams toward project success.

Core Duties

• Direct technical scope, quality standards, and engineering deliverables for water infrastructure initiatives
• Lead and mentor engineering staff, fostering professional development and technical excellence
• Coordinate project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation across assigned projects
• Manage stakeholder relationships, including municipal clients, regulatory agencies, and design partners
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local water infrastructure regulations and standards
• Evaluate engineering solutions, troubleshoot technical challenges, and drive continuous improvement
• Contribute to proposal development and project planning for new water system opportunities

Who We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
• Minimum 5–7 years of experience in water infrastructure, municipal engineering, or related infrastructure sectors
• Proven leadership experience managing technical teams and complex projects
• Strong knowledge of water treatment, distribution systems, wastewater, or stormwater management
• Familiarity with engineering standards, municipal codes, and environmental regulations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with internal teams and external clients
• Ability to balance technical depth with strategic project management
