Deloitte is recruiting an Independence (Internal Compliance) Senior Manager to lead and strengthen our internal compliance and independence function. This full-time, remote position is based in Midrand, GP, ZA, within our Consulting division, where you'll shape how we maintain the highest standards of governance and regulatory adherence across the organisation.

Role Overview

As Senior Manager, you'll oversee the development and execution of independence and internal compliance strategies for Deloitte. Your leadership will ensure our practices align with regulatory requirements, professional standards, and ethical frameworks. You'll work across multiple teams, driving consistency in how compliance and independence are embedded into our daily operations, and you'll mentor junior colleagues as they grow into their own compliance responsibilities.

What You'll Do

  • Design, implement, and refine independence policies, compliance procedures, and risk assessment methodologies tailored to Deloitte's structure and regulatory obligations
  • Monitor adherence to regulatory and internal compliance standards, identifying gaps and recommending corrective actions
  • Conduct reviews and audits of compliance processes, documenting findings and tracking remediation efforts
  • Liaise with external regulators, audit bodies, and professional bodies to stay current on evolving requirements
  • Lead training and awareness programmes to embed a compliance culture across the firm
  • Manage cross-functional projects and provide strategic advice to senior leadership on compliance and independence matters

Requirements

  • Professional qualification in accounting, auditing, law, or a closely related field (CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in internal audit, compliance, risk management, or independence functions
  • Demonstrated experience managing teams and driving organisational change
  • In-depth knowledge of professional independence standards and regulatory frameworks applicable to professional services firms
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work independently and remotely whilst remaining aligned with organisational objectives
