Senior, Tax Services – Payroll Analyst

Deloitte seeks an experienced payroll professional to fill a Senior, Tax Services – Payroll Analyst position in Grand Rapids, serving as a critical member of our Business Process Solutions team. This full-time role puts you at the center of helping enterprise employers address workforce administration challenges and regulatory complexity across North America.

The Opportunity

As a Senior, Tax Services – Payroll Analyst at Deloitte, you'll leverage your expertise to support some of the most sophisticated payroll operations in the region. Working alongside seasoned professionals, you'll deliver strategic guidance and technical solutions that enable our clients to streamline compliance, minimize audit risk, and optimize their total workforce spend. Your work will span multiple industries and organizational sizes, from complex multi-state employers to large enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

• Process and manage comprehensive payroll operations for client organizations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness across all wage types and tax jurisdictions
• Monitor changes in payroll tax regulations and employment law, translating updates into actionable client guidance
• Conduct payroll system reviews and audits to identify process improvements, control deficiencies, and compliance gaps
• Support clients with wage and hour compliance, tax filing requirements, and regulatory submissions across federal, state, and local jurisdictions
• Collaborate with clients to design and implement payroll solutions that address their unique business needs
• Prepare analysis and documentation to support client tax positions and regulatory examinations

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
• 5+ years of hands-on payroll administration or tax services experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state payroll tax laws, wage and hour regulations, and employment compliance
• Proficiency with payroll software platforms and business systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex payroll concepts to diverse client audiences
• CPA or completion of CPA exam modules preferred
