Senior Mechanical HVAC Engineer

Ramboll is seeking a Senior Mechanical HVAC Engineer to join our team in Utica, New York. This is a full-time position for an experienced professional ready to lead mechanical HVAC projects and mentor engineering staff in a dynamic consulting environment.

What This Role Involves

As a Senior Mechanical HVAC Engineer at Ramboll in Utica, you'll take ownership of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system design, analysis, and implementation across commercial, industrial, and institutional projects. You'll combine technical expertise with leadership to drive quality outcomes and advance your career in a collaborative engineering firm.

Core Duties

• Design and specify HVAC systems for buildings and facilities, ensuring compliance with codes and standards
• Perform load calculations, system modeling, and energy efficiency analysis
• Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and engineering reports
• Collaborate with architects, MEP coordinators, and construction teams throughout project delivery
• Oversee junior engineers and coordinate mechanical engineering work streams
• Conduct site visits, troubleshoot system performance, and recommend upgrades or improvements
• Stay current with mechanical codes, standards, and emerging HVAC technologies

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or related field
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one in New York
• 5+ years of mechanical HVAC design and engineering experience
• Proficiency in HVAC design software and CAD tools
• Strong understanding of ASHRAE standards and building codes
• Excellent communication and project management skills
• Ability to lead teams and mentor junior staff
• Organized approach to multitasking and deadline management
