About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential life sciences organization seeking a Senior Manager, Supply Planning to lead their Latin America supply chain operations. Our client operates across multiple countries in the region and requires a seasoned supply chain leader to drive planning excellence, inventory optimization, and supplier performance.
This is a strategic leadership role based in Mexico with responsibility for the entire LATAM region. You'll lead teams responsible for supply planning, purchasing, and inventory management while partnering with commercial, manufacturing, and global supply chain stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Supply Planning & Sales and Operations Planning
- Lead the LATAM supply planning process, balancing capabilities against business requirements and priorities
- Develop supply scenarios and contingency plans for capacity limitations, material shortages, and business variability
- Translate business requirements into actionable supply, purchasing, and inventory plans
- Collaborate across commercial, finance, manufacturing, and global supply chain teams to evaluate growth opportunities and product launches
- Ensure regional supply plans align with global supply strategies and operational capabilities
Inventory Management & Optimization
- Own supply plan attainment and inventory performance across the LATAM region for imported, locally sourced, and intercompany products
- Define inventory policies including safety stock, reorder points, target coverage, and service levels
- Optimize product availability and working capital while reducing excess, obsolete, and expiring inventory
- Lead supply continuity, constraint recovery, allocation decisions, and new product introductions
- Develop proactive supply risk assessments and mitigation strategies
Purchasing & Supplier Management
- Lead regional purchasing execution for finished goods, materials, and supply-related services
- Ensure purchase orders, supplier confirmations, and delivery commitments align with approved supply plans
- Manage supplier performance in partnership with global procurement, quality, and manufacturing teams
- Conduct supplier performance reviews and implement corrective actions
- Support supplier capacity planning and supply continuity efforts
Operational Excellence & Analytics
- Standardize regional supply planning, purchasing, and inventory management processes
- Develop dashboards providing visibility into supply plan attainment, service levels, and inventory performance
- Drive adoption and data discipline across ERP, planning, and reporting tools
- Lead automation initiatives and continuous improvement projects
- Use structured problem-solving to resolve recurring supply and inventory issues
People Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop regional teams responsible for supply planning, inventory management, and purchasing
- Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Drive organizational change, capability building, and talent development
- Foster a data-driven decision-making culture across the team
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; Master's preferred
- 10+ years of progressive supply chain experience with significant leadership in supply planning, inventory management, purchasing, and S&OP/IBP
- 3-5 years of people leadership or multi-country leadership experience in a regional or multinational organization
- Demonstrated experience leading supply planning organizations, inventory optimization initiatives, and supplier performance management
- Fluent in English and Spanish; Portuguese is a strong advantage
- Availability to travel across Latin America as business needs require
Technical Skills
- Strong ERP capabilities (SAP or comparable systems)
- Advanced Excel proficiency
- Experience with planning tools and business intelligence platforms
- Deep expertise in supply planning, inventory optimization, capacity planning, and supply risk management
Key Competencies
- Ability to communicate complex supply planning issues clearly and align stakeholders
- Data-driven decision making using business judgment and structured problem solving
- Balance of customer service, inventory investment, cost, and compliance objectives
- Proven ability to lead organizational change and develop talent
