Senior Infrastructure & Network Engineer – Germany

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential renewable energy technology organization seeking a Senior Infrastructure & Network Engineer to join their European IT operations team based in Munich. In this role, you will:

• Own daily operations, maintenance, and continuous improvement of data center infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage, and virtualization platforms across European locations
• Manage and optimize enterprise network services, focusing on routing, resilience, performance, capacity planning, and high-availability design
• Take dedicated responsibility for Munich office connectivity infrastructure, including switches, wireless networks, firewalls, VPNs, internet services, and meeting-room networks
• Lead technical troubleshooting, incident response, root-cause analysis, and implementation of sustainable corrective actions for complex infrastructure challenges
• Support modernization initiatives, expansion projects, migrations, disaster recovery planning, and technology refresh programs
• Strengthen security posture, compliance, and operational excellence through robust documentation, change management processes, vulnerability remediation, SOPs, and runbooks

What We're Looking For

Our client seeks a hands-on infrastructure professional with deep technical expertise and a proactive mindset. The ideal candidate will have:

• Degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
• At least three years of relevant infrastructure or enterprise network engineering experience
• Hands-on experience with Fortinet firewalls, SD-WAN, Cisco Firepower FTD, Cisco Nexus 9000, and Cisco enterprise switching environments
• Strong knowledge of routing, switching, and security technologies including BGP, OSPF, VRF, ACLs, QoS, STP, NAT, link aggregation, and high-availability architectures
• Experience operating VMware, Nutanix, and KVM-based virtualization platforms, with knowledge of VMware NSX-T and security capabilities
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Zabbix, Prometheus, and Grafana
• Automation skills using Python, Shell, PowerShell, or Perl
• Structured problem-solving approach combined with proactive capacity planning and service improvement mindset
• English proficiency at C1 level; German at B2 level is advantageous
• Mandarin Chinese at B2 level or above is a strong advantage for collaboration with global technical teams
• Certifications such as VMware VCP, CCNA, CCNP, Microsoft Azure Administrator, ITIL Foundation, Fortinet NSE, or Nutanix Certified Professional are welcome
