Head of SEO / GEO (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential renewable energy technology company with operations across multiple European markets and beyond. They are seeking a Head of SEO / GEO to lead organic search strategy across all territories, from traditional search optimization through modern AI-powered discovery channels. This is a strategic leadership role based in Berlin with remote flexibility, reporting directly into the marketing leadership team.

You will own the global SEO and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) roadmap, building content-driven growth models that scale across markets while leveraging AI automation at every opportunity. Your work will bridge classic Google search performance with emerging platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI Overviews.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the global SEO and GEO strategy across all markets, setting funnel-stage goals from visibility through qualified lead generation and CAC contribution
• Lead a small team while managing agency partners and freelancers, from briefing through budget oversight and quality assurance
• Build and scale content-driven organic growth models across new markets, including keyword research, competitive analysis, content roadmapping, and on-site quality control
• Collaborate with content managers to integrate search perspective with editorial strategy
• Optimize content for AI-powered search results, establish measurement frameworks for GEO visibility, and iterate based on performance data
• Build automated SEO workflows using LLMs and tools like n8n or Make for briefings, content QA, and monitoring
• Maintain technical site health using Search Console, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, and GA4, translating findings directly into action items
• Coordinate with country-level marketing teams through clear briefings and shared standards while incorporating local market insights into global strategy

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years of SEO experience (in-house or agency) including strategic responsibility across multiple markets
• Proven track record building and owning content-driven organic growth models, measured by qualified leads and CAC impact rather than vanity metrics
• Experience leading people or providing technical direction, plus managing external vendors and agencies
• Strong command of standard SEO and analytics tools with a data-driven decision-making approach
• Daily hands-on experience with LLMs, demonstrated ability building automation workflows, and deep understanding of AI search evolution
• Strategic thinking combined with willingness to work directly in spreadsheets, crawl data, and briefing documents
• Ability to align cross-functional stakeholders through clear arguments and reliable execution
• Fluent German and English (C-level proficiency)
• Comfortable balancing team development with remaining operationally involved in the work
