(Senior) Payments Manager (f/m/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a Senior Payments Manager to join their banking operations team in Berlin. In this role, you will:

• Lead and independently manage payment-related projects from discovery through implementation, coordinating closely with Product and Engineering teams
• Work hands-on with core payment systems and schemes including TARGET, SWIFT, SEPA, and SEPA Instant
• Develop comprehensive test concepts and execute user acceptance testing (UAT) for payment initiatives and system changes
• Monitor and investigate payment incidents, conducting thorough root-cause analysis and implementing remediation measures
• Conduct technical and regulatory research on payment infrastructures, monitoring changes from regulatory bodies and communicating impacts to internal stakeholders
• Represent Payment Operations in internal and external working groups, technical showcases, and annual industry testing cycles
• Serve as subject matter expert for specialized payment services, maintaining technical documentation and knowledge repositories
• Drive continuous process optimization and automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and scalability

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Economics, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in payments, operations, business analysis, or project management within fintech, banking, or fast-paced technology environments
• Deep understanding of European payment infrastructures and schemes
• Strong hands-on experience with SQL and data analytics tools such as Looker
• Proven track record in process optimization, project delivery, and stakeholder management
• Structured, solution-oriented approach to incident management and process improvement
• Professional English speaking skills and at least B2 German language proficiency
