About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential pharmaceutical organization seeking an Associate Director, Medical Affairs based in Germany. This remote role offers the opportunity to serve as a scientific leader across thought leader engagement, congress strategy, medical communications, publications, and insight generation. You will translate clinical evidence into actionable Medical Affairs strategy while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Approximately 20% travel is required for congresses and stakeholder engagements.
Responsibilities
- Serve as scientific subject-matter expert, translating clinical evidence and stakeholder insights into balanced recommendations for Medical Affairs strategy
- Develop and maintain compliant relationships with key thought leaders, healthcare professionals, and external scientific experts
- Plan and conduct scientific exchanges, advisory boards, roundtables, and consensus initiatives aligned with Medical Affairs objectives
- Provide scientific coverage at national and regional congresses, including program assessment, KTL preparation, insight capture, and post-congress reporting
- Lead scientific strategy and execution of Medical Affairs booths, including educational content and scientific exchange
- Lead or support scientific communications, including medical education materials, congress resources, presentations, and standard response letters
- Support publication activities such as publication planning, literature reviews, abstracts, posters, manuscripts, and white papers
- Conduct literature surveillance and synthesize scientific, clinical, safety, and competitive developments
- Aggregate and analyze insights from KTL interactions, congresses, advisory boards, and Medical Information to identify evidence gaps and strategic opportunities
- Represent Medical Affairs on cross-functional teams and provide scientific expertise to internal stakeholders
- Serve as trained backup for defined Pharmacovigilance, Medical Information, and Product Complaint activities
- Support continuous improvement across Medical Affairs processes while maintaining high standards of scientific quality and compliance
What We're Looking For
- Advanced scientific or healthcare degree such as PharmD, PhD, MD, DO, or another relevant advanced degree
- Four or more years of relevant pharmaceutical industry experience, including Medical Affairs experience preferred
- Strong scientific and clinical acumen, including knowledge of medical terminology, clinical study design, biostatistics, and evidence appraisal
- Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate and synthesize complex scientific information and translate findings into clear, balanced recommendations
- Strong scientific writing and communication capabilities, including experience developing medical education materials, abstracts, posters, manuscripts, and presentations
- Working knowledge of publication standards, scientific exchange principles, and applicable Medical Affairs laws, regulations, and industry guidance
- Ability to establish credible and compliant relationships with key thought leaders and healthcare professionals
- Strong presentation skills and ability to adapt complex scientific information for diverse audiences
- Strategic thinking and ability to connect scientific evidence with broader Medical Affairs priorities
- Strong project and program management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and time-sensitive deliverables
- Strong awareness of quality, compliance, and risk, including ability to recognize and escalate safety and product quality information appropriately
- Prior experience in Pharmacovigilance, Medical Information, or product complaints preferred; ability to complete role-based training required
- Experience with KTL engagement, scientific exchange, congress planning or coverage, and scientific communications preferred
- High degree of accountability, adaptability, integrity, and discretion
- Fluent English communication skills and willingness to travel overnight up to approximately 20%
- Flexibility to occasionally work evenings or weekends when required by congress schedules
