Senior Bilanzbuchhalter / Senior Accountant (all genders)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential e-commerce organization in Berlin seeking a Senior Accountant to take ownership of comprehensive accounting deliverables. In this role, you will:

• Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under German GAAP (HGB) for multiple entities
• Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and bank reconciliations, ensuring proper accruals and provisions
• Handle VAT pre-registrations, statistical reporting, and serve as the day-to-day point of contact for tax-related questions
• Act as primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, tax authorities, and banking partners
• Drive process improvement and automation initiatives in collaboration with ERP and business intelligence teams
• Manage intercompany reconciliations and allocations across group entities
• Mentor and support junior members of the accounting team

This is a senior-level position with clear progression toward a leadership role. As responsibilities grow, you will have the opportunity to lead the accounting function both technically and organizationally.

What We're Looking For

• Successfully completed commercial apprenticeship or degree in finance/accounting, plus certification as Geprüfter Bilanzbuchhalter (IHK) or equivalent
• 4–5 years of solid experience in financial accounting, ideally within e-commerce, retail, or technology environments
• Expert knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and German tax law; familiarity with IFRS is a plus
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as DATEV, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics (NAV/Business Central), along with advanced Excel skills
• Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and a self-directed, goal-oriented approach
• Fluent German (C2 level) and very good written and spoken English
