Senior AWS Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology organization seeking a Senior AWS Engineer to join their infrastructure team. This is a fully remote position based in the United States, offering the opportunity to work with cutting-edge cloud technologies and drive critical infrastructure initiatives.

Our client operates in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where reliability and automation are paramount. You'll play a key role in maintaining production systems, implementing scalable solutions, and collaborating across teams to ensure optimal performance.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with multiple teams to investigate issues and provide root cause analysis during critical outages
• Execute deployments for application and infrastructure enhancements across cloud-hosted environments
• Drive improvements in performance, scalability, and availability of application resources
• Enhance continuous delivery mechanisms and automation workflows
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement configuration changes and debug application logs
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure and architecture
• Optimize scaling and performance of cloud resources
• Automate manual processes using appropriate scripting languages
• Implement preventative and corrective measures to ensure system reliability

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
• 4-8 years of progressive professional experience in infrastructure or DevOps roles
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with production AWS systems
• Strong experience with GitHub, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines
• Hands-on expertise with EC2, Docker, Container Services, Lambda, Step Functions, AWS CLI, CloudFormation, Terraform, Route53, and CloudFront
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Chef or Puppet
• Proven ability supporting Apache, Tomcat, Jetty, or similar web servers
• Experience working with APIs and tools like Postman
• Strong skills in writing and managing CloudFormation stacks
• Proficiency with Auto Scaling, monitoring, and logging solutions
• Deep knowledge of AWS security features and best practices
• Experience designing self-healing and fault-tolerant services
• Understanding of high availability techniques and strategies
• Strong system administration experience with Linux/Unix or Windows
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Shell, Perl, or Ruby)
• Experience with multi-tier architectures including load balancers, caching, web servers, application servers, and databases
• Understanding of monitoring in dynamic environments
• Preferred: AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate
• Excellent communication skills across all organizational levels
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, event-driven environment
• Availability for shift work as needed
• Team-oriented, approachable, and collaborative work style
