Modern Workplace Engineer (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential automotive organization based in Kiel, Germany, seeking a Modern Workplace Engineer to elevate their IT workplace environment across a distributed organization. Our talent team is working exclusively with this client to find an experienced professional who will play a central role in administering, standardizing, and modernizing their entire client landscape.

In this position, you'll work closely with client and infrastructure teams to ensure operational excellence while actively shaping and developing a modern, standardized, and automated workplace environment. This is a hands-on role where you'll have the opportunity to not only maintain day-to-day operations but also drive sustainable improvements across the workplace technology stack.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain stable operations of the Windows client environment, ensuring a standardized and reliable workplace for over 1,000 users
• Oversee the complete lifecycle of endpoint devices—from staging and OS deployment through user assignment to ongoing refresh cycles
• Administer and enhance central endpoint management solutions including FileWave, managing notebooks, mobile devices, and other clients efficiently
• Support iPads, iPhones, notebooks, and thin-client environments, developing their central administration and standardization
• Administer and evolve Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, Group Policy, and user management systems
• Handle software packaging, rollouts, and the implementation of structured release processes with continuous improvement
• Identify opportunities for standardization and automation, implementing improvements independently
• Provide 2nd-level support for complex client issues and take on technical ownership for specific workplace technologies
• Collaborate closely with service desk, infrastructure teams, and external service providers on IT landscape development projects

What We're Looking For

• Several years of experience in client, endpoint, or modern workplace environments with proven success operating and developing standardized client landscapes
• Strong expertise in Windows client administration, lifecycle management, and endpoint management
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, Group Policy, and user management
• Experience with software rollouts, packaging, client provisioning, or comparable deployment processes
• Familiarity with mobile endpoints and ideally MDM solutions, Apple devices, or thin-client environments
• Hands-on, operations-focused mindset with strong understanding of stable and standardized IT operations
• Structured and pragmatic approach to problem-solving with a passion for continuous improvement
• Curiosity about new technologies and desire to take on responsibility for specific technologies and projects
• German language proficiency required for this role
