MD Grade 1 Certified Boiler Plant Operator

Dexterra is hiring an MD Grade 1 Certified Boiler Plant Operator for our Beltsville, MD facility. This full-time position offers an opportunity to operate and maintain critical boiler systems that power our operations.

About This Position

We are seeking a skilled and certified boiler plant operator to join our team at our Beltsville location. In this role, you will oversee the safe and efficient operation of boiler systems, ensuring reliable steam and hot water generation for facility operations. Your Maryland Grade 1 certification and hands-on experience will be central to maintaining system reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Operate boiler systems and monitor pressure, temperature, and water level readings throughout operating hours
• Perform inspections and preventive maintenance on boiler equipment and related systems
• Conduct daily safety checks and maintain detailed operating logs and records
• Diagnose equipment issues and coordinate necessary repairs and maintenance work
• Ensure all operations comply with Maryland and federal boiler regulations and safety standards
• Respond promptly to system alarms and emergency conditions
• Keep equipment clean and well-maintained to support continued safe operation

Who We're Looking For

• Valid Maryland Grade 1 Boiler Operator Certification
• High school diploma or equivalent education
• Practical experience operating commercial or industrial boiler systems
• Knowledge of boiler safety protocols and state/federal regulatory requirements
• Ability to read technical drawings, blueprints, and equipment manuals
• Strong attention to detail and solid problem-solving skills
• Dependable work ethic with a commitment to workplace safety
