General Utility Mechanic

Dexterra is hiring a full-time General Utility Mechanic in Beltsville, MD, US. In this hands-on maintenance role, you'll keep our operations running smoothly by performing mechanical repairs, equipment maintenance, and facility upkeep across our locations.

Position Summary

As a General Utility Mechanic at Dexterra in Beltsville, Maryland, you'll play a critical role in maintaining equipment and facilities that support our daily operations. This is a full-time position that combines hands-on mechanical work with preventive maintenance planning. You'll troubleshoot issues, perform repairs, and ensure all equipment operates safely and efficiently to keep our team working without interruption.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment and systems across facilities
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failure and extend asset life
• Troubleshoot mechanical problems, diagnose root causes, and implement solutions
• Operate and maintain various tools, equipment, and machines safely and effectively
• Document maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment conditions accurately
• Support facility operations by addressing immediate maintenance needs and urgent repairs
• Follow safety protocols and OSHA guidelines to maintain a safe work environment
• Collaborate with team members to coordinate maintenance schedules and priorities

Who We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a utility mechanic, maintenance technician, or similar mechanical role
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills with practical equipment knowledge
• Ability to read technical diagrams, schematics, and maintenance manuals
• Proficiency with hand and power tools, and basic mechanical systems
• Solid understanding of safety standards and commitment to working safely
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
