Water and Wastewater Treatment Systems Operator

Dexterra is seeking a full-time Water and Wastewater Treatment Systems Operator to join our team in Beltsville, MD, US. In this critical infrastructure role, you'll operate and maintain water treatment and wastewater systems that are essential to community health and environmental protection.

About This Position

As a Water and Wastewater Treatment Systems Operator with Dexterra, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of treatment systems that process and purify water supplies. This hands-on, facility-based position requires technical skill, keen attention to detail, and a steadfast commitment to public health and environmental safety standards. You'll monitor complex systems, respond to operational needs, and ensure treatment processes run efficiently and in compliance with all regulations.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor water and wastewater treatment equipment and automated control systems
• Conduct water quality testing and analysis, collecting samples for laboratory evaluation
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on treatment infrastructure and equipment
• Record operational data, maintain detailed treatment logs, and prepare compliance reports
• Identify and troubleshoot system issues to ensure uninterrupted operation
• Follow established safety protocols and regulatory compliance procedures
• Respond promptly to equipment alarms and implement corrective actions

Who We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent; some positions may require post-secondary technical training
• Valid water and wastewater operator certification or licensure as required by the State of Maryland
• Practical knowledge of water treatment processes, chemical handling, and system operation
• Excellent record-keeping skills and ability to follow detailed operational procedures
• Mechanical aptitude and experience troubleshooting treatment equipment
• Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with colleagues
• Physical capability to safely perform the essential functions of the role
