About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential open-source technology organization seeking a Linux Devices Software Engineer to join their distributed systems team. This role focuses on mission-critical Golang development for next-generation software packaging, delivery, containers, security sandboxing, telemetry, and device management across IoT, desktop, and server platforms.

This is a fully remote position available to candidates in EMEA, LATAM, Canada, and the USA. The team meets in person two to four times annually in various global locations for strategic alignment.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality Golang code for Linux system-level software delivery and security features
• Debug and resolve complex Linux system issues involving cgroups, namespaces, and security frameworks
• Design solutions for robustness and reliability in unpredictable conditions (power outages, network failures)
• Participate in thorough code reviews with distributed engineering peers
• Collaborate proactively across time zones to architect elegant technical solutions
• Contribute to unit and integration testing frameworks to ensure code maintainability
• Travel globally for up to two weeks, twice per year for team collaboration

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or equivalent practical experience
• Professional software development experience using Go, Python, C, or C++
• Deep Linux system fundamentals: cgroups, namespaces, AppArmor, or similar security/isolation technologies
• Strong commitment to software testing, peer code reviews, and writing maintainable code
• Passion for open-source software development and collaborative engineering
• Obsession with quality, performance, and system reliability
• Self-motivated, articulate, and accountable working style suited to remote collaboration
• Nice to have: Prior Golang development experience
