Engineering Manager for IAM (Identity and Access Management)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential open source technology organization seeking an Engineering Manager for Identity and Access Management (IAM). This leadership role will guide a team building secure, high-performing identity and access management solutions using Go and Python. Your team will define how users access critical systems and applications across the organization's product ecosystem.

This is a fully remote position open to candidates in EMEA, LATAM, Canada, and the USA. The team meets in person 2-4 times per year at various global locations for strategic planning and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a high-performing software engineering team focused on identity and access management solutions
• Collaborate with product management to define technical vision and roadmap for IAM products
• Manage team backlog, sprint planning, and delivery of distributed systems that operate on bare metal, public cloud, and Kubernetes environments
• Design software architecture with strong emphasis on security, performance, and scalability
• Write high-quality code and comprehensive tests in Go and Python
• Provide thorough code reviews and mentor team members on software design best practices
• Work alongside internal platform teams to ensure reliable data storage and observability
• Engage with open source communities through hackfests, webinars, and conferences
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and maintain high-quality documentation

What We're Looking For

• Proven track record hiring, building, and leading high-performance software engineering teams
• Strong software development experience with Go and Python
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement complex, distributed systems
• Hands-on experience with container technology and Kubernetes
• Deep understanding of software and infrastructure security principles
• Experience designing or operating large-scale distributed systems
• Knowledge of identity and access management technologies and standards (desirable but not required)
• Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or equivalent experience
• Exceptional written and spoken English with strong presentation skills
• Outstanding interpersonal skills with curiosity, flexibility, and accountability
• Ability to travel internationally twice per year for team events (up to two weeks each)
