Engineering Manager – Web

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential client in the enterprise software sector who is seeking an Engineering Manager - Web to lead a distributed team across the EMEA region. This is a remote role working with a globally distributed organization that pioneers innovative approaches to team collaboration and product delivery.

As an Engineering Manager, you'll balance technical leadership with people management, ensuring your team delivers exceptional web experiences while growing in their careers. You'll work collaboratively across product, engineering, and design teams to ship reliable, scalable solutions that users love.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of web engineers through coaching, mentorship, and career development
• Contribute directly to technical delivery by writing well-tested, documented code in modern web technologies or Flutter
• Set goals, estimate work, and drive your team to meet commitments on schedule
• Design and implement software solutions while maintaining high engineering standards through code and architectural reviews
• Debug and resolve issues reported by users, ensuring excellent product quality
• Deploy and operate services developed by your team in production environments
• Collaborate on technical specifications and contribute to best-in-class technical documentation
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering practices and operational excellence
• Serve as a technical advocate for your product area

What We're Looking For

Required Skills and Experience:

• Strong background in web and software development with hands-on technical expertise
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM field, or equivalent experience with a compelling alternative path
• Professional experience designing and writing high-quality web applications
• Expertise with TypeScript, React, or Flutter
• Strong understanding of accessibility and performance considerations
• Experience with Linux environments (Debian or Ubuntu preferred)
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work across teams and time zones
• Professional written and spoken English
• Well-organized, self-starting approach with proven ability to deliver to schedule
• Track record of exceeding expectations and driving results
• Ability to travel approximately twice per year for team events (up to two weeks each)

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience with container technologies such as LXD, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Previous experience building and managing engineering teams
• REST API design, development, and governance experience
• Background in performance engineering and security
